What is Halo IV injection 6ml?

  • Halo is a sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) injection manufactured by CEVA, supplied in a 6 mL intravenous format, and designed to support joint health in horses and camels. As a medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid solution, Halo works by restoring the natural lubricating and cushioning quality of synovial fluid, helping performance animals move more comfortably.
  • Unlike intra-articular injections, which are delivered directly into a single joint, Halo is administered intravenously, allowing it to circulate through the bloodstream and support multiple joints at once — a significant advantage for camels and horses affected by widespread joint discomfort rather than a single localized injury, and without the added procedural risk of injecting directly into a joint capsule.

What Is Halo Used For?

Halo is indicated for the management of non-infectious inflammatory joint disease, including:

  • Early-stage degenerative joint disease
  • Acute lameness of joint origin
  • General joint inflammation in performance and working animals

Key Benefits

  • Reduces joint inflammation
  • Improves joint lubrication and mobility
  • Supports faster recovery in race and performance animals
  • Treats multiple joints from a single intravenous dose
  • Lower procedural risk compared to intra-articular injection, since the joint itself is not entered

Dosage and Administration

Horses (450–500 kg body weight): 6 mL, administered intravenously, once weekly, for 3 to 5 doses.

Camels:

  • Approximately 400 kg body weight: 6 mL IV
  • Approximately 250 kg body weight: 3 mL IV

Halo must be administered only by slow intravenous infusion, under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.

Safety Guidelines

  • Administer only by slow IV infusion — never intra-articularly unless specifically directed by a veterinarian
  • Follow all local and racing/competition regulations regarding withdrawal periods for performance animals
  • Available by veterinary prescription only

Why Halo Is Trusted for Horses and Camels

  • Because Halo is given intravenously rather than into individual joints, it’s especially well suited to camels and horses with multi-joint discomfort — a common presentation in racing and working animals subjected to repetitive strain across several joints simultaneously. A single treatment session can support the whole musculoskeletal system rather than just one localized area, making it a practical option for performance-animal maintenance programs.
